Hello! My name is Annika and I am a jazz, pop, and country vocalist and songwriter. I can't wait to help you with your journey learning to sing and understand chord theory!
Teaching Style
Rather than taking a strictly classical approach, I am most focused on helping students understand the basics of pop vocal technique. I also have extensive experience with jazz and country vocal techniques as well, so can help students improve belting and vocal styling. This can include yodeling and working on fine motor control needed for special vocal techniques. Each lesson will be catered specifically towards the student's long term musical goals.
I have studied classical voice under Dr. Stella Yoon, Brian Schexnayder, and Billy Park. I have also studied musical theater vocal styles. I believe in building a strong vocal foundation by using vocal exercises and implementing deliberate practice.
Curriculum
Students are not required to use any particular text. My style will be focused on helping them learn what they need to sing or accompany themselves by learning the basics of pop music. I believe that significant improvements can be made in a short period of time with the right attention to detail and practice regimen. I am most excited about helping vocalist build the skills and confidence they need to perform for an audience.
