About

Audrey Rose is a New York City based singer, actress and voice coach. She has been singing for as long as she can remember. Through years of observing, learning, and dedication, her love of music has blossomed, starting as a child, listening to her family sing harmoniously together.

Eagerly, she joined a kids choir, where her musical seeds were planted. Throughout her childhood, she was a part of several Choirs, including Competitive Choirs, Show Choirs, and Jazz Choirs.

In her high school years, she branched into Drama and found a passion in Musical Theatre. While in high school, she worked with the local Community Theaters, as well as leading the Choir and Drama clubs as president. Being a part of these organizations cultivated a love of storytelling, expressiveness, vulnerability, and performance.

One summer, an alumni of WFHS, Rich Affannatto, a Tony and Drama Desk Award-Nominated producer and entrepreneur, returned to his hometown, accompanied by more Broadway stars: Gregory Treco, Alet Taylor and Andy Taylor. Together, they put together a Broadway intensive. Audrey was so grateful to learn so much from these kind and giving creatives. Feeling inspired, she set her sights to performing on Broadway.

Audrey then went on to earn a BFA in Musical Theatre with an emphasis in Acting and Directing from Sam Houston State University. During this time, she studied Somatic Voice Techniques with John Barth, Donna Hinds-Sawyers, Eric Gundersen, and Laura Avery. She trained in Acting techniques such as Boleslavsky, Improvisation, and Meisner, as well as Dance techniques, such as Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, and Aerial. Another creative avenue she explored was Devising. Using the techniques of Devising, she originated the role of Marie II in Woyzeck, On and On, written by Nick Lantz and directed by Vicky Lantz. Under the same direction, she worked on Furies, A Brief History of Furious Women. In that process, she felt empowered to tell her stories and uplift women!

Audrey also had the opportunity to work with Broadway Choreographer, Greg Graham on Damn Yankees. She was selected as a scholarship singer for the St. James Choir, where she toured England, singing Sacred music in some of England’s most notable cathedrals. One of Audrey’s favorite roles was in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, as Titania, performed in Original Pronunciation Dialect. Audrey was totally awestruck when she got the opportunity to sing with Kristin Chenoweth on her Coming Home Tour!

After college, she packed her bags, with all her gained knowledge and experience, and moved from Texas up to NYC. While adjusting to city life, she continued her training at Hunter College, working with the Choir as well as working on Dance Techniques. She kept grinding to make that NYC magic happen, auditioning, singing in cabarets, she even worked a season with the Shadow Box Theatre, puppeteering for kids all over NYC.

Soon she met Jac Grady, which budded new life in Audrey’s creative garden. She inspired Audrey to pursue a career in the art of teaching voice in addition to pursuing the dream of being on Broadway. Audrey then became certified in Contemporary Vocal Techniques with John Henny, shadowed with Jac Grady, and completed level I & II in Somatic Voicework™, the LoVetri Method, in partnership with Baldwin Wallace University, with the founder, Jeannette LoVetri.

During the pandemic, the pursuit of Broadway has been on pause, so Audrey has spent more time sharpening her skills and reaching new students of all levels, from children to those of a mature age, from beginners to professionals. Thanks to Zoom, Audrey Rose Vocal Studio has reached one coast to the other!

My teaching methodology is derived from several methods. The number one goal is to find freedom in the voice, singing should really feel as easy as speaking! In the first lesson, we discuss the goal you would like to achieve. I structure my lessons according to your goals and current skill set.

When working with more experienced singers (teens to pre-professional),  I aim to create balance in the registers (head voice and chest voice), reduce tension and correct potentially damaging behaviors. While working on freedom and flexibility, we can work on expression, diving into the emotional life of a song. I specialize in Musical Theatre, which to be competitive in today's market, you need skill sets from several genres. Whether you would like to focus on one genre, or find versatility, I can guide you along the journey!

When working with young beginners, we take time to learn how to read music, feel the different sensations of the voice, and how to express emotions and dynamics through games and fun songs. Young singers need technique too. It's better to learn sooner than have to undo bad habits later.

Whatever your goals are, for you or your children, it is my great pleasure to help you find your voice and your confidence.
