About

Ava Wirth is an upcoming oboist in the world of classical music. She has performed as principal oboe with the Bowling Green State University (BGSU) Philharmonic Orchestra as well with the BGSU Wind Symphony.  She has also performed on both second oboe and oboe d'amor with the Michigan Philharmonic Orchestra (2018) and as oboe and english horn with the Josh Groban Orchestra (2018-2019). Ava has performed as a soloist two years in a row at the BGSU New music Festival (2018-2019). As winner of the 2018 New Albany Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition she got to perform Oscar Navarro's Legacy Concerto with the orchestra. 

As a teacher Ava has kept a private studio since 2017. In 2019 she taught as the oboe faculty at the BGSU Summer Music Institute for young musicians. 

Ava has received a Masters in Music degree from DePaul University studying with Alex Klein as well as a Bachelors of Music from Bowling Green State University studying with Dr. Nermis Mieses.

Ava has taught students from a range of ages. She works with her students to find music that they feel excited to be playing.  

As an oboist, Ava can also teach lessons for reed making.
