Bella Navarro
About
Hello! I'm a 16-year old violinist from Chandler Arizona who has been playing since the age of 3. With roughly 13 years of experience, I have studied under two violin instructors and three school conductors.
Teaching Style
I have been trained in the Suzuki method, read music, and have an especially strong training in learning by ear. I am also a trained fiddler who has studied folk, Celtic, bluegrass, and various other styles since the age of nine. Additionally, I have performed in a masterclass with Grammy-nominated violinist, Jeremy Kittel. I am currently in my school's chamber orchestra and perform in an extracurricular fiddle band with other high school students in the valley. I'm extremely passionate about teaching and have worked with students since I began teaching my friends in the sixth grade. Since then, I've taught classes at virtual camps and have been trained in instructional courses on how to teach by ear and how to help students master the violin from scratch.
Curriculum
I'm a teacher who works best with students from the ages of 7-14. I'm experienced with beginners and often have the most fun teaching the bare bones of the instrument. For a new student who's just beginning, I'd likely work on developing a foundational understanding of the parts of the instrument and begin teaching simple melodies and techniques. For a slightly more advanced student, I'd work on assigning a few beginning music theory books and begin developing a sense of direction with sheet music and a development of ear training. For a more advanced player, I'd love to shift focus to learning by ear and sight reading. I'd also love to introduce fiddle tunes and solo pieces into their repertoire!
