About

Though only 24 years of age (b. 1994), Ohio-born Benjamin Fryxell is already a seasoned veteran of the cello. He has given numerous performances over the years, and has concertized as a soloist with orchestras such as the Blue Ash-Montgomery Symphony Orchestra, the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, the Seven Hills Sinfonietta, the National Repertory Orchestra, and others. In 2013, he performed Tchaikovskys Variations on a Rococo Theme with an orchestra consisting of members of both the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra. In 2014, he gave the world premiere of Frank Protos Divertimento for Cello and Orchestra with the Blue Ash-Montgomery Symphony under the baton of Michael Chertock. In 2017, he performed Schumann's Cello Concerto with the National Repertory Orchestra under the baton of Colorado Symphony Music Director Brett Mitchell.Lauded by the Cincinnati Enquirer as a young Cincinnati star, Benjamin Fryxell has performed in prestigious venues as a soloist such as Cincinnatis Music Hall and the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, China. He is currently enrolled as a student at the New England Conservatory in Boston, MA, where he is pursuing a Master of Music degree in cello performance under the tutelage of Yeesun Kim. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from The Juilliard School in New York, NY, where he studied with Natasha Brofsky. Past teachers include Alan Rafferty and AliceAnn O'Neill.

I take a personal approach to every student, because everybody learns differently. I work with students to help them accomplish their individual goals, and do so by drawing not only on knowledge of playing the cello, but on experience with a large amount of repertoire, as well as music history and theory to augment studies. I will treat every student with kindness and respect at all times, and will try to make lessons as enjoyable and informative as they can be.
