About

BERNADETTE METHER is a Singer, Guitarist, Music Director, and Teacher with a vision to inspire others through heartfelt musical storytelling. Her expertise spans well over three decades. Within that time, she has become a Licentiate in Music, obtained a Graduate Diploma in Special Education and B.A. in Music History, and completed multiple music courses, including Theory of Music and Estill Levels 1 & 2.

Born in Melbourne, Bernadette’s affinity for music began during early childhood; a passion that was nurtured by her older sister and first-grade teacher. She has been singing ever since.

As a dedicated Educator, Bernadette understands that the human voice is as one-of-a-kind as a fingerprint. As such, she has made it her life’s mission to help people not only tap into but enhance their natural voice. In order to do this effectively, she offers a safe space without judgment or pressure, just infinite support and guidance.

To Bernadette Mether, singing is an intrinsic human desire and above all, music is art. Whenever she has the opportunity to perform, she strives to move her audience's' emotions and provide an underscore to poetry through the power of song. Music really is an expression of her innermost self.

Bernadette Mether is well qualified, having gained her LTCL in Singing in 2005 and LMusA in Singing in 2013. She has been teaching voice privately for over 20 years.

Many of her students have achieved excellent results in auditions, AMEB, ANZCA and VCE examinations.

She is constantly upgrading her knowledge in music and vocal pedagogy and often attends conferences and workshops organized by ANATS, VMTA, CGSV and ABODA.

Her qualifications include a BA(Maths/Music), Dip Ed (Maths/Music), GDSE, LMusA (Voice) and LTCL recital (Voice).

She has also attained 7th grade Theory of Music and 6th Grade Classical Guitar.

Currently, she teaches voice, classical guitar and music theatre in her home studio (ages 10-90, males and females).

Bernadette has vast experience with musically directing local amateur theatre and choir as well as teaching singing privately.

She has successfully prepared students for theatre, choir, VCA, and University auditions as well as AMEB,  ANZCA and the VCE classical and contemporary exams.

Bernadette has experience as a Cantor in many parishes in Tasmania, Queensland and Victoria and a good knowledge of liturgical music.

Other experiences include the organization of Charity concerts and musical direction in local amateur theatre companies.
