About

Hey there! I'm a music professional with 20 years of experience. I've supported my career over the years by singing, playing guitar, playing keys, playing bass, writing and producing my own material, producing for other artists, writing score for film, and managing other artists. I've studied and played all genres of music, but I am mostly into pop and hip hop. Playing many instruments and producing has led me to my greatest skill of LIVE LOOPING. If you've always wanted to know how to LOOP or be better at it, I'm your guy. I've looped with Boss loop pedals and can help you program your own MIDI controller to work with Ableton Live.

My career started in Houston, TX but would eventually lead me to Nashville, TN where I would learn the inner workings of the music industry. Playing private events for celebrities was fun out there, but my biggest accomplishment was co-producing the first Chaz Cardigan record, and introducing him to some industry friends, which would end in his signing to Capitol Records/Loud Robot in 2019.

After Nashville, I did some international solo travelling, spending 3 months in Thailand, 3 months in Vietnam, 3 months in Egypt, as well as playing at over 30 military bases around the world. Music is the key to making friends anywhere, and when you learn how to communicate with strangers utilizing music, you have unlocked one of the keys to the universe.

These days I'm back in Houston, TX raising twin boys, playing locally, and teaching a lot of music. I still write and record, but don't tour like I used to. I find more value and reward in helping people accomplish their dreams.

A career in music can be a treacherous place. Let's connect and I can help you make the ride lucrative and enjoyable.

Teaching Style

I like to take an intuitive approach to teaching music. Every student is different. Though my ideal student is a multi-instrumentalist who wants to become a producer or artist, many of my students are beginner guitarists and pianists. I am not a classical teacher, and if a student wants to take that approach, we can find a better match!

I am interested in helping students learn how to express themselves effectively by showing them how different chords, melodies, phrasing, timbres, affect the listener. My ultimate goal is for my student to be able to express themselves freely and intentionally, utilizing diatonic or chromatic chord progressions and substitutions with thoughtful melodic and lyrical composition.

Having been an artist for 20 years and working with top people in the industry gives me a unique perspective on what it takes to attain musical greatness. I feel like anyone with a passion for music and entertainment can become a master; understanding that focused training and repetition can create a musical genius out of anyone.

Curriculum

The main book I teach with is:

The Music Lesson: A Spiritual Search For Growth Through Music by Victor Wooten.

Music Theory and note theory is easy, but it is the other aspects of music: notes, articulation, technique, feel, dynamics, rhythm, tone, phrasing, space, and listening - that make you a great musician.

Credentials & Affiliations

my credentials are my experience. I am 37 years old with a family of four, supporting my family completely with live music performance and lessons.

I am not classically trained, but can read music and have a strong understanding of music theory.
