“Brittany is so good with my daughter. She is a lot of fun and is always cheerful. My daughter loves to play popular upbeat songs, and Brittany caught that early on. She incorporates as much of the pop songs in her lessons, as she does traditional classical music. My child plays so much better and with increased enthusiasm!”

— Aruna, parent of middle school viola student

Brittany Stockwell is a creative entrepreneur, professional musician, music & arts educator with a Masters in Teaching, certified yoga & mindfulness teacher for all ages, and mindset & mindfulness coach. She is the Founder & CEO of Stay In Tune Creative Arts & Wellness.

I teach students of all ages and specialize in all levels violin/viola lessons while also offering beginner cello & piano lessons.

I believe music is for everyone. Anyone, whether a young child or adult, is able to appreciate music and benefit from it. I believe everyone has the capacity to learn how to become a musician. That being said I also believe that hard work and effort is half the battle and essential to any musician’s development and journey. At the heart of my philosophy is that music changes lives and enables individuals to develop into well-rounded, disciplined, empathetic individuals. Everyone deserves the opportunity to explore music at some point in their life. It is never too late to discover its power.

Brittany has developed her own style of teaching which focuses on meeting her students where they are in the moment physically, mentally, and emotionally. Her method of teaching and coaching is focused on fostering mindfulness and a growth mindset. She strives to help her students not only learn how to express themselves and work hard towards their personal goals but to also cultivate self awareness, body awareness, and lifelong self care habits through building connection, encouraging self reflection, and fostering love and compassion for themselves and others.

The foundation of my teaching is based on technique, which I believe with dedicated practice develops into individuals’ musical styles and musicianship. I also believe that music has no boundaries and every musician deserves to explore a diverse repertoire of music genres. My students are given the opportunity to dabble in several genres of music including classical, jazz, pop, & rock.

Brittany has been a professional musician for over 20 years, playing violin and viola all over the world. She has performed professionally for weddings & events, in various different orchestra, ensembles, and rock bands. She is one of the founding members and past Creative & Social Media Director for the Blackstone Valley String Quartet (2016-2018). She spent two years after that as the Studio Manager for Red 13 Studios, a music production studio. After teaching music lessons part-time from 2016-2019, she decided to teach full-time in the Fall of 2019 and continued doing so online throughout the pandemic and after.

Brittany currently holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Framingham State University (2012), where she studied English Literature, American History, and Music. She holds a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) with a concentration in Secondary English from Simmons University in Boston (2017). She received her Music Together (early childhood) teacher training certification (2020) at the Music Together Worldwide Headquarters in New Jersey from Lili M. Levinowitz, Ph.D., the Director of Curriculum for Music Together Worldwide and Professor of Music Education at Rowan. Brittany is also a 95-hour certified Children’s Yoga & Mindfulness teacher who trained under Lara Hocheiser, Founder of Flow And Grow Kids Yoga, in the Spring of 2020. She also received her 200 Yoga Teacher Training Certification online (20212 under under Michelle Young, the director and CEO of My Vinayasa Practice based out of Austin, Texas. She is currently pursuing a Mindfulness Coach Certification & Trauma Informed Yoga Certification through My Vinyasa Practice with plans of offering various mindfulness offerings.

Although traditional methods and pedagogy of private lessons play an important role in shaping a student’s skills and practice habits, I believe the focus of each lesson should be on the student and their progress in that moment and not where me or anyone else thinks they “should be”. Methods should be used as a tool in helping students progress not as a test of their talent or potential and are determined during lessons based on students’ personal goals.
