About
My name is Bryan Morgan Smith. I am a flautist based out of South Florida. I have been engaged to music my entire life. My selections consist a wide range of genres between Classical and Pop.
I have played with well-renowned musicians like Nestor Torres and Ali Ryerson. This experience has given me motivation to become the best musician I can be.
I hold a BA in Music Performance from the University of Florida and an MS in Music Education from Florida International University.
I currently serve as the director of music at the Family Enrichment Behavioral Health Services(FEBHS) located in Hollywood, FL.
When I'm not teaching, I occasionally participate as a freelance musician in collaboration with various chamber groups and as an independent artist for private affairs like birthday parties, weddings, receptions, banquets, etc.
Outside of music, some of my hobbies include volunteering for various causes, watching basketball, bowling, rollerblading, and jogging.
I enjoy working with children and teens alike. If you select me to serve as your teacher, I will help you understand that you can make a difference by adding music in your life!
Music is an art that tells our story. It is love, passion, emotion, blood, sweat, tears, and who we are. Unfortunately, music is seen as a challenge in terms of high stakes such as preparation for various competitions, upcoming concerts, and comprehension of musical literature.
My objective is to help prepare students for the challenging world of music. I believe that each student inherits a musical gift through wise guidance and discipline. Music can be an adventure filled with serendipity.
Both parents and students should trust the process for the best results. I believe that success is earned through commitment and effort.
My teaching methods include the use of three developmental books for most instrumentalists:
1. The Standard of Excellence
2. Rubank Method book
3. Band and Beyond Warm-Up
For flutes only I am a practitioner of Marcel Moyse's flute warm-up exercises. I strongly encourage flute players to include his exercise methods during their practice.
