Cameron Cummins
About
My name is Cameron and I have been playing the piano since I was 8 years old. Music was a formative influence for me growing up as I also learned to play the violin about the same time and played in an orchestra from grade school through high school. I have a joking, fun personality and work well with younger students. I have enjoyed playing music ranging from Chopin to John Williams. I have been an educator for over 20 years and I've found it very rewarding to teach others the language of music. While making the lesson enjoyable, I will also challenge the students to reach their potential and goals!
I specialize in teaching beginner to intermediate students, as I enjoy giving these ones a solid foundation of fundamentals that will ensure they progress with good techniques and habits.
Teaching Style
I feel like an enjoyable and fun atmosphere is the best for learning. This is absolutely essential for young learners; if the music they're learning isn't fun, they likely won't continue as they grow up. Therefore my goal is to help them have fun as they learn and choose music they will love learning to play. One can still learn so much without taking the fun out of our lessons.
Curriculum
My teaching will be adapted to each students needs and goals. For beginner students, I would recommend the Piano Adventures Primer level series, which you can buy on Amazon and download on the Kindle app for a reasonable price.
