About

Cameron graduated from the University of South Alabama in 2022 with a Bachelor in Music and double concentration in Instrumental Music Education and Oboe Performance. While at the University of South Alabama, he studied under Dr. Rebecca Mindock and Dr. Amy Selkirk.

Driven by a passion for creating chamber music with others, Cameron has performed in many chamber groups with varying instrumentations. He has performed several notable works including Nielsen's Woodwind Quintet, Hindemith's Kleine Kammermusik für FünfBbläser, Arnold's Divertimento for Flute, Oboe and Clarinet, and Saint Saëns' Caprice on Danish and Russian Airs. Cameron has also performed many works in the oboe repertoire, including works such as Kalliwoda's Morceau de Salon, Poulenc's Oboe Sonata, and Strauss' Oboe Concerto.

My primary goal at the beginning of the first lesson is to work with the student to figure out their interests and goals, whether they be short or long-term. After this, we will set goals that we can work towards and reach over time. Every student comes from a different background and has a different life outside of music, therefore I will work to set goals that will allow the student to gain as much as possible while studying the oboe with me.

Overall, the most important things I strive to help my students achieve are: 1. fostering a better appreciation and a love for playing the oboe, 2. gaining a better understanding of how to practice efficiently and effectively, and 3. becoming a more well-rounded musician and oboist. These three things, among many others, can be worked on with students of any age or ability level and will allow the student to become more self-aware, self-motivated, and self-assured as they continue on their journey as oboists.
