About

Hi! I’m Carolina, a dedicated music teacher with active perfect pitch and a solid foundation of 10 years of formal training at the Setúbal and Palmela Conservatories (2008-2018), where I earned my 5th Grade Certification. Since 2020, I have managed a successful private teaching studio, providing personalized lessons in music theory and performance to students of all levels, both in-person and via Zoom.

My academic background includes ongoing studies in Humanities at Universidade Aberta, which enhances my pedagogical approach. Looking ahead, I plan to pursue a higher degree in Jazz or Composition to further deepen my expertise. As a performer, I have participated in several public events, such as guitar auditions at the City Halls of Setúbal and Barreiro, and Christmas concerts organized by the Conservatory (2008-2018). I was also a featured performer at the "Asian Morning" event at EB 2,3 de Azeitão, where I performed anime repertoire in Japanese in 2011. My goal is to help students understand music in a practical and engaging way.

Teaching Style

My lessons are personalized and adapted to each student’s pace. I focus on music theory, ear training, and musical perception, leveraging my perfect pitch to provide instant feedback and help students internalize pitch more accurately. I always use practical examples and methods that make concepts easier to grasp. I also teach my own techniques and formulas, such as the fact that F Major and C Major are not exceptions in the Circle of Fifths. I believe every student learns best with individual attention and step-by-step guidance.

Curriculum

I use a practical, interactive, and student-centered approach. Students are encouraged to suggest songs and chord progressions they want to explore. I also share video excerpts and music blogs from specialized music creators like Open Studio Jazz, Cadence Hira, and 8-bit Music Theory. We analyze these materials to apply music theory concepts in real time, practice transposition, and strengthen ear training. I also integrate interactive tools from Teoria.com and Musictheory.net to ensure a dynamic learning experience. Lessons are tailored to each student’s level and goals, combining structured exercises with hands-on exploration to make learning musical concepts intuitive and engaging.
