About

Hello! I’m Grace, a passionate vocal tutor specializing in pop, musical theatre, R&B, and ballad songs. With a Bachelor's degree in Music from the University of Malaya, Malaysia, I bring both academic knowledge and real-world experience to my teaching. I’ve performed in a variety of settings, including pop bands, acoustic bands, solo singing, and choir performances, which has enriched my understanding of diverse musical styles.

My Teaching Philosophy

I believe that everyone can learn to sing, regardless of their starting point. My approach is centered on building solid technique, enhancing performance skills, and fostering confidence. Whether you’re just beginning your vocal journey or looking to improve, my goal is to help you find and develop your unique voice.

Who I Teach

I focus on beginner students who are eager to explore their vocal potential. My students range from those just starting out to those preparing for exams like ABRSM, Trinity, or Rockschool. I’ve been teaching for almost 3 years, and one of my most rewarding experiences has been seeing my students achieve high marks in their ABRSM singing exams.

What Sets Me Apart

What sets me apart as a vocal tutor is my empathy, patience, and dedication to each student’s success. I understand how challenging it can be to find your voice and learn to sing correctly, as I’ve been through that journey myself. Starting with self-taught singing lessons from YouTube at 13, I know the struggles and the importance of proper technique to avoid vocal damage.

Why I Teach

I’m passionate about helping others because I know firsthand how frustrating it can be to struggle with your voice. My mission is to guide you through your vocal journey with care and expertise, ensuring you sing in a way that is both healthy and fulfilling.

Teaching Style

I believe that vocal lessons should be both effective and enjoyable. We’ll start with fun, quick warmups to get you ready for the session, then dive into essential techniques like breathing, vocal placement, and tone. After that, we’ll focus on singing your chosen songs, applying the techniques we’ve worked on.

In my lessons, I strive to balance constructive criticism with encouragement, helping you grow as a singer while keeping you motivated. I understand that everyone learns differently, so I tailor my approach to suit your needs, whether you're a visual learner or prefer a more hands-on method. I incorporate tools like sheet music and backing tracks to make the lessons engaging and practical.

When challenges arise, I’m here to listen and support you. I believe it’s okay to stumble—it’s all part of the learning process, and everyone progresses at their own pace. To help you build confidence, I may encourage you to prepare for exams or participate in competitions, depending on your goals.

Creating a supportive environment is key to my teaching. I’m always here to listen to your concerns and work together to find solutions that help you succeed.
