About
Hello to each of you! My name is Corey, and I have been teaching cello for 33 years. I am a retired music school teacher of 30 years. These past two years have been spent building up my private studio. It has been really rewarding! During my years of teaching in the schools, I taught at a community college in Vancouver, WA, at a Waldorf School for 23 years, and in the Lake Oswego Schools. Additionally, I perform (ed) as a professional cellist with the Oregon Ballet, Portland Opera, Eugene Symphony, and famous artists such as the Eagles, the Moody Blues, Bocelli, Led Zepplin, and many others. I spent decades performing for the Broadway series performing countless musicals as well. I teach students age 8- 80, beginning through advanced. My degree is BM in cello performance from Portland State University 1994, and I have studied (and/or had master classes) with Stephanie McDougal, Hamilton Cheifetz, Yo Yo Ma, Hans Jurgen Jensen, and Carter Brey. I attended Tanglewood Institute in 1987, and Congress of Strings in 1988 both on a full scholarship. My lessons are both fun, educational, and I work diligently toward teaching great technique in both the right and left hands. I will find the way to teach you that makes learning enjoyable, and with the least amount of difficulty. Take care!
