About
My name is Corey Bissell and I have been a Music Instructor for the better part of the last decade. I fell in love with studying music 20 years ago and I have spent the last 10 years performing and touring with my band Star Chamber. I have experienced the life of the gigging musician and spent countless hours in the studio mulling over the finer creative details of songwriting and production. I have instructed hundreds of students ranging from ages 5-75. I specialize in teaching: Guitar, Bass Guitar, and Recording/Producing with a strong emphasis on Songwriting, Production, and Music Theory.

I was self taught from the age of 10 so I am keenly aware of what it takes to learn to play an instrument from the ground up. I have never been satisfied with the type of instruction that forces a teachers personal likes and dislikes (along with their bad habits) on to their students. I prefer to learn about my students, listen to their goals, observe their personality, and teach them at a pace that they are comfortable with. Each of my students are unique and what works for one may not work for another, so I keep my ear open and try to find what works best for YOU!
I was a private lessons instructor with Guitar Center from 2014-2019 and left the company to open my own private lessons business, MusicPlusCorey, which I am still running today. I taught 1st-8th grade music from 2018-2023.
I have written for and performed in the band STAR CHAMBER since 2012. Our band won the Louisiana Music Prize competition in 2018 and the Band Wars competition in 2019. Our self recorded/released song, "Reaper", was featured on the James Beard Award-nominated ESPN show TrueSouth.
I have performed and recorded in some of the oldest and most prestigious studios in the US including Sugar Hill Studios in Houston, TX and Studio in the Country in Bogalusa, LA
I have owned and operated CHAMBER HOUSE STUDIOS since 2010 and recorded numerous records of varying genres including but not limited to: Rock, Country, Gospel, Jazz, Pop

For all other beginner students looking to learn to read and play sheet music as a guitarist, but not necessarily from a classical approach, I recommend "A Modern Method for Guitar Vol. 1" by William Leavitt
For all guitar students I recommend "Guitar Aerobics" by Troy Nelson
For all bass guitar students I recommend "Bass Guitar Aerobics" by John Liebman
