About

Chicago-based trombonist Corey Sansolo enjoys a diverse performing and teaching career. He is a member of the Axiom Brass and the Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra and is the director and founder of the DC Trombone Workshop.

Recently, Corey has made frequent appearances with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra, and Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and has given masterclasses at the University of Arkansas, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Grambling State University, and Nazareth College.

An experienced educator, Corey maintains a strong private studio of low brass students who regularly earn seats in top youth orchestras and all-state bands. His students have been finalists in the American Trombone Workshop National Solo Competition and the US Army Orchestra Concerto Competition and have earned scholarships to continue their musical studies at prestigious universities. His students have been admitted to major in music at Yale University, Northwestern University, and the Oberlin Conservatory of Music among others.

Teaching Style

Practice makes permanent.

Lessons will focus on the fundamentals of trombone technique, musical literacy, and expression. I emphasize how to practice with the goal of efficiently becoming the best trombonist and musician you can be.

I specialize in helping students prepare for college auditions, youth orchestra/region band auditions, and solo/chamber performances.

Curriculum

Corey will assign materials and create exercises based on each individual student's needs.
