I have been playing guitar for 15 years, and I have been playing professionally for about half of that time. Fronting bands like Ramshackle and Dan & Drum, I have toured nationally, playing legendary venues like The Troubadour and The Roxy. As Dan & Drum, I have 100k monthly listeners on Spotify, and we’d be on tour RIGHT NOW if it wasn’t for covid :/! In addition to any guitar or songwriting techniques, I would be happy to share insights into the music business and how to survive in the modern landscape.
Before becoming a professional musician, I was a tutor for science and math, and then a teacher of those subjects at Fusion Academy. I have worked with all types- from 5th graders struggling to read, to West Point matriculants- and I dig it all! During that time, I was privately teaching guitar as well, and let me tell you- music is a lot more fun than science! I move at the student’s pace, and I make sure that we understand what we’re playing in the context of music theory and popular songwriting. No detail is too small, and no dream is too big!

I generally base my methods and texts on the student and their unique interests. However, there are a few books that are always a good place to start: Creative Guitar by Guthrie Govan is a favorite, along with Zen Guitar by Phillip Toshio Sudo. Both focus on proper form and mindset, as well as technique.
