About
Danae Greenfield is a pianist born and raised in Seattle, Washington. As a mere 18-month-old, her tiny, untrained fingers tapped out sounds and patterns on the battery-operated, single octave toy keyboard given to her by her parents. Playing this color-coded keyboard marked the start of Danae’s pursuit of music. At the age of six, she began taking classical piano lessons, switching to jazz at the age of 12.
After graduating from Newport High School in 2013, Danae moved across the country to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts on a full tuition scholarship. While in Boston, Danae had the privilege of sharing the stage with Chick Corea, Ambrose Akinmusire, Tia Fuller, and Jason Palmer. She has performed in venues such as the Paramount Theater, The Wilbur Theatre, the Golden State Theatre, and Tula’s Jazz Club, among others. Danae graduated from Berklee with a Bachelors of Music Degree in Performance and Professional Music in May 2017, and is currently based in Brooklyn, NY, where she aims to develop her sound as a pianist and performer of creative music.
As a teacher, I am committed wholeheartedly to nurturing the development of young individuals as they hone their craft and evolve into beautiful musicians. Achieving this requires a constant awareness of the musical genre(s) that my students are drawn to, while presenting them with pieces from various cultures to broaden their perception of the world we thrive in. Moreover, I plan to foster the creative growth of my students, from both a compositional and an improvisational standpoint. My intention is to provide each individual with the necessary tools to investigate the realm of music in this manner. I teach anyone from beginners to adults!
