About

Daniel Hamin Go began his musical studies in Canada at the age of 12. He graduated from the Interlochen Arts Academy and received his Bachelor of Music from the Manhattan School of Music under the tutelage of Julia Lichten and David Geber.

As a devoted chamber musician, Daniel has performed and collaborated with many renowned musicians such as Glenn Dicterow, Ida Kavafian, Daniel Phillips, Wolfgang Redik, Fazil Say, and has received mentorship from the members of the Artemis, Cleveland, Juilliard, and Tokyo string quartets. Notable festival engagements include Four Seasons Winter Workshop, IMS Prussia Cove, Kronberg Cello Masterclasses, New York String Orchestra Seminar, Tsinandali Festival, and Yellow Barn. In recent years, Daniel has worked with Ralph Kirshbaum, Frans Helmerson, Gary Hoffman, Ferenc Rados, and Rita Wagner in masterclass settings.

Daniel is currently pursuing a Master of Music at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin under the guidance of Nicolas Altstaedt. From September of 2020, Daniel will begin his endeavours in the Advanced Diploma programme as a Bicentenary-Scholar at the Royal Academy of Music, London. Daniel plays on a cello by Lorenzo & Tomasso Carcassi c.1760, generously on loan from Paul Gosling and a bow from the Hauber Collection.

Teaching Style

I have been teaching since 2012, working with students of all ages! On top of my conservatory training, I have also studied cello pedagogy; I love to help students have a better physical understanding/relationship  to their instruments (ie. posture, set-up, LH & RH technique).

I have taught at Charter Schools, teaching individual and group lessons to beginners -- all the way to teaching pre-professional students to prepare for conservatory auditions!

I believe that every student has a very different and individual need when it comes to learning and expressing creativity, and with many years of teaching experience, I find myself to be energetic and passionate, while constantly finding ways to better communicate with my students!
