About

Daniela has been teaching and tutoring since she was 16 years old, starting with piano and Italian. For the past 13 years, she has been teaching in high schools, language institutes in Europe and the US, and in postsecondary institutions. She earned her MA in Italian Studies and a PhD in Curriculum & Instruction (Applied Linguistics) from University of Wisconsin-Madison and has taught at several major public institutions across the US, most recently as a professor of Italian and Second Language Acquisition at the University of Oklahoma. Her teaching repertoire includes Italian language, composition, and conversation, literature, and cinema courses, English language courses, second language acquisition theory, sociolinguistics, principles and techniques of teaching foreign languages, as well as piano, yoga, and meditation. She has also directed study abroad programs in Italy. Daniela joined Lessonface as Director of Languages this year.

At the core of Daniela’s teaching is always the values of empathy, kindness, and mutual respect. Recognizing that every learner has different needs and different goals, Daniela prides herself on being adaptable, attentive, and flexible to these needs and student learning preferences. She works with her students to build realistic outcomes and create personalized learning strategies while incorporating research-based best practices to keep motivation and accountability high and steady. Her cheerful personality coupled with her patience and joy in seeing her students achieve their goals makes lessons both a rewarding and fun experience.
