About
I help adult beginners, returning drummers, and developing players build strong hands, cleaner rebound, steadier timing, and real rudimental control. Lessons are clear, encouraging, and structured, whether you are starting from zero on a practice pad or cleaning up technique you already have. We can work on grip, stroke quality, reading, timing, practice structure, and musical control step by step. And we'll have fun making it happen.
Teaching Style
My teaching method is built around relaxation, clarity, analysis, and repetition. I want students to learn how to let the sticks do the work, develop efficient motion, and understand how rudiments actually function instead of just forcing them. I believe that almost any rudimental challenge becomes manageable when it is broken down carefully and practiced with patience and consistency.
I also believe learning should be enjoyable. We will work seriously, but we will also jam, experiment, and keep the process musical and engaging. Musicality, rhythmic accuracy, sound quality, and control are all central to the way I teach.
I provide handouts as needed, along with clear explanations and practice guidance, so students have something useful to work from between lessons. I recommend materials based on the individual student rather than forcing everyone into the same system.
Curriculum
I aim to create a relaxed and enjoyable learning experience while still building real skill and precision. I encourage students to let the sticks do the work, so the hands can move more naturally and efficiently. I believe rudiments become much more attainable when they are broken down, analyzed clearly, and practiced with patience and consistency. I also think learning should be musical and enjoyable, so fun, feel, and rhythmic accuracy all matter.
My teaching approach has also been shaped by a broad background and by studying with influential teachers including Tom Float and Thom Hannum. Over time, I have developed a method that combines technical clarity, musicality, and practical problem-solving. When you study with me, the goal is not just to play the notes, but to build stronger hands, better timing, better sound, and a more confident overall approach to drumming.
Credentials & Affiliations
My background combines performance, instruction, and coaching in the United States, Japan, Thailand, and Indonesia, across both theme-park entertainment and marching percussion settings.
I have performed with the Concord Blue Devils and appeared at Tokyo Disneyland with groups including the Jammitors, Tomorrowland Brass, Mad Hatters, and the Disneyland Band. My performance work also includes Jambalaya Percussion at Universal Studios and Kitchen Beat at Tokyo DisneySea.
On the teaching and coaching side, I have worked with the Boston Crusaders, Magic of Orlando, and Yokohama Scouts, the Japan drum corps champions. I have also led clinics and coaching sessions for marching drummers in a range of international settings, with an emphasis on strong fundamentals, clear technique, rhythmic control, and musical performance.
