David Torres
About
My name is David Torres and I have played the piano professionally for over 10 years for megachurches, texas country bands, and indie groups. I have taught the piano for 5+ years by tailoring lessons to students' learning styles and motivations with the concepts of rhythm, harmony, and music theory. I attended Austin College and the University of Houston where I taught music to first year students. I have played at venue's such as the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavillion, Gruene Hall, Luchenbach, Clayton's Beach Bar, and White Oak Music Hall. I believe that with ear training and repetition, any student can become an expert pianist.
Teaching Style
In my first lesson, I like to learn about the student's musical interests and goals and then I proceed with teaching practical exercises for finger muscles. We have a weekly goal that challenges the student to progress with a weekly milestone. The accomplishment keeps the student motivated as progress is the best motivator. We go on and learn music theory concepts and analyze musical compisitions based on the student's interests.
