About
I love teaching music. Music meant so much to me, since I started violin in 4th grade and cello in 5th. Even further back than that, I enjoyed learning about music from my mother. She performed musical theatre since she was 16 and even worked for Disney when MGM studios first opened.
I love playing cello in my church's worship band, spending time with my family and boyfriend's family, Walt Disney World, Nancy Drew computer games, Netflix, movies and TV shows, hanging out with my dog, a 65 pound female, black and white Labrador/pitbull mix, and playing some video games.
I taught public middle school orchestra for 3.5 years. I have been teaching private lessons professionally for 3 years. I graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education, magna cum laude.

Curriculum
The kind of student I look for is someone who is committed to learning, practicing at home, and taking the word and instruction of their teacher seriously. Learning an instrument is fun and rewarding. Feeling confident in newfound abilities and partaking in the joy of music making is priceless. However, it takes hard work and dedication. In order to not loose new skills, it is pivotal for a student to practice effectively daily, or at least several times a week.
I will provide assignments that include scales, etudes, excerpts, method book exercises, and solo repertoire. I will also be happy to include any requests of the student. I will check student progress weekly and quarterly. The kind of instruction I provide is structured. I will listen to each assignment, play along with you, offer musical advice and adjustments, address posture and playing technique every week.
I have helped students audition and be accepted into all county orchestra, all state auditioned and honors orchestra, and Harrison Schools of the Arts in Lakeland, FL. I have also prepared many students for Solo and Ensemble who received Superior and Excellent ratings.
