About

Denise M. Reynoard is a French-Mexican soprano specializing in historically informed performance practice. She holds a Master’s degree in Early Music Vocal Performance from the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC), where she studied under Francesc Garrigosa.

Her artistic profile is rooted in Early Music, with a focus on Medieval and Baroque vocal repertoire, complemented by experience in opera, art song, and contemporary vocal music. Her approach combines stylistic precision with research-informed interpretation and a strong focus on text-driven vocal expression.

As a performer, she has appeared as a soloist in venues including the Palau de la Música Catalana, L’Auditori (Barcelona), and the Chamber Music Hall of the Berlin Philharmonie, performing across Europe and the Americas.

Her operatic and oratorio repertoire includes roles such as Almirena (Rinaldo), Sesto (Giulio Cesare), Teseo (Teseo) by Händel, La Speranza (L’Orfeo), and Valetto (L’incoronazione di Poppea) by Monteverdi, as well as works by Montéclair and Hasse.

Alongside her performance career, she has worked in contexts related to musical research and historical sources, including the University of Barcelona Library (Fons Antic) and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), focusing on early music materials and historical documentation.

She also teaches voice and vocal interpretation, working with singers on technique, breath coordination, resonance, and stylistically informed performance practice. Her teaching focuses on developing vocal awareness, interpretative clarity, and historically informed approaches to repertoire.

She currently performs in chamber music projects, including “Proyecto Kammer” with pianist Helir Hernández, focusing on art song repertoire.

Teaching Style

I focus on:

  • Breath coordination and support
  • Vocal placement and resonance balance
  • Clear technical progression without vocal strain

I do not work with casual or recreational singing approaches. The work is methodical and progression-based.
