Dr. Polly Matzinger
About
I am an immunologist (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polly_Matzinger) and sheep farmer. i teach basic and advanced immunology, and the genetics and biology of sheep color and breeding.
I have taught Immunology for decades, and love to bring people into the new modern way of looking at the immune system. I tend not to use powerpoint slides, but instead to draw on a white board as i speak. I also welcome questions during lectures, rather than leaving them to the end. This style allows students to follow easily, and to immediately ask a question if they get lost.
I hold a PhD from the University of California, and an honorary D Phil, from a University in Belgium. I work at the National Institutes of Health, and also own/run a sheep farm, where i am working on importing and up-breeding two breeds of sheep: Gotlands from Sweden and Oessants from France.
I don't recommend texts, because they tend to be out of date by the time they're published. I do sometimes recommend published scientific papers and will send PDFs to students that have signed up.
