About

Hello! I'm Drew Steen and I love to play and teach drums! I'm mostly a touring drummer but have been a teacher when I'm off the road. I started playing drums at the age of 12 and have been playing for 22 years. I grew up in Nebraska and immediately after high school moved to Los Angeles to play drums professionally. I lived in the Los Angeles area for 15 years and recently relocated to the Nashville area. I've been a successful touring drummer since the age of 22 and continue to tour today! 2020 slowed down my touring as I'm sure you know why, but I've always loved teaching and taught at School of Rock in Pasadena, California on my off time.

I've played and toured with bands and artists like Demi Lovato (from 2008-2010), American Idol winner Kris Allen (2009), American Idol Star David Archuleta (2009), Ska Legends Reel Big Fish (off and on from 2005-2014), Victoria Justice, and I've been the drummer for YouTube Violin Star and Dancing with The Stars contestant Lindsey Stirling since 2012! I've played on internationally released records and even a Grammy Nominated Record by reggae legend Lee "Scratch" Perry. I specialize in Rock and Pop drums but I grew up playing Blues and Jazz. My teaching style is very flexible, I'm a jack of all trades when it comes to styles on the drums and I want to teach you what YOU want to learn. I like to start with basics and warmups and move on from there to see what you're looking for in your education. I really look forward to meeting you and getting to know you through the drums!

Demi Lovato-2008-2010
Lindsey Stirling-2012-Present
Kris Allen- 2009

Reel Big Fish- 2006-2014 (off and on)
Lee "Scratch" Perry- Grammy Nominated "Repentance" Record
School Of Rock Pasadena-January 2019-August 2019

My teaching method is pretty simple to explain. I am a stickler for the basics, the rudiments, warm up routines, but mostly after all of that I want to teach you what YOU want to learn. I recommend starting work on the 40 essential rudiments for a great start to getting to know the drumkit and drums!
