My name is Duncan McIntyre. I am a professional actor and teaching artist. I work primarily as an actor and acting teacher, but also work as an accompanist and teach private piano and voice. I most enjoy working with students as they prepare for college/grad school acting auditions, helping them reach their full potential and getting offers from as many schools as possible. I hold an Masters of Fine Arts in Acting from the University of Missouri at Kansas City, a Bachelor's in Musical Theatre Performance from Ball State University, and am a member of Actor's Equity Association. I Love working with students of all ages and bringing them into the world of performing arts. I am also a Midwesterner at heart and enjoy Buckeye Football, Boating and relaxing at the lake. I am an avid Slalom water-skier as well, (don't get me started on skiing-I'll talk for hours!). Reach out and let's find out how we can grow in our artistic journey's together!
I preach a practical aesthetic in all disciplines I teach. We start by focusing on the "Big Idea" the joy, majesty and wonder that comes with our work, and then break it down in to small "do-able" bits. It is of extreme importance to me that we acknowledge the beauty we are creating, while de-mistifying the work. IT IS PRACTICAL and anyone can learn to make art! Along with this philosophy, I believe that a personal approach is best. Each student will work with me personally to craft the best scenario for personal growth.

Recommended texts are on an individual basis for each students. I can confidently say that when I teach Piano, I prefer Faber series of lesson and theory books. However, I have used several others (Alfred, Beastien..) and recommend based on the student's individual needs.
