About

Hello. My name is Dwayne Clark. I am from South Orange, NJ. I am a professional actor, singer, performance coach, and director. I specialize in Musical Theater, R&B, Pop Rock, soul, and jazz. I have been blessed with many wonderful opprotunites to work with some amazing talent over the past 21 years. Most recently I have performed in the revival of THE COLOR PURPLE on broadway. The musical won a tony award for best revival of a musical. I have also written a show called A PORTRAIT OF RAY A TRIBUTE TO RAY CHARLES. I have performed this show at Neward Symphony Hall, and Symphony Space in NYC. I have also performes in  SPIDERMAN: TURN OFF THE DARK on Broadway. I was a part of the original company cast by Julie Tayemore as Robertson, a bully, varying roles, and was with the show for 3 years. Before that I was in IN THE HEIGHTS on Broadway as a cover for Benny. CRY BABY on Broadway came before that--I was cast as Dupree. I was also in the original company of TARZAN as ensemble, then cast as Terk. URINTOWN THE MUSICAL on Broadway was a wonderful experience--I was cast as Robbie Stockfish. My Broadway debut was with SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE; I was cast as Adrian. I was in the Australian, 1st national, and Broadway company. After SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE I was blessed to do RENT. I was originally cast as Benny. After a year I then played Collins. My career took a turn and I was cast as Sportin Life in The Gershwins PORGY AND BESS at NYC Opera. I traveled all over the world with this show, doing full productions, and concert versions. I also have done film, TV commercials, and commercial voiceover work as well. I have been taking my gifts into assisted living homes, doing one-hour sets of musical theapy for this past year--some of the best work I have ever done. I'm looking forward to what the future holds. Art is in need of people to keep it alive. Looking forward to meeting and working with you in the near future.

It's inspiring to see the results of our work coming to life, and I'm happy to share some of my students' performances below with you:

My teaching style can fit anyone in the entertainment business. My experences have taken me to many diverse settings in entertainment. Primarily I will be using SPEECH LEVEL SINGING. This is a method used by Seth Riggs, and can be applied in all types of entertainment settings. Versatility is what I can offer anyone. Also I can help with those who want to do acting scene work as well. I have taught in many schools in NYC and New Jersey. I have had the amazing chance to teach at New Jersey Performing Arts Center, teaching voice, and doing many master classes on various styles of music. I have been a private vocal and acting coach as well. Many of my students have gone on to NYU Tisch, Pace University, and landed many auditions for film, TV, and Broadway shows. I believe together we can work to get the best result for you. Also, if you have material you need to work on for an upcoming audition, or just to keep your voice moving and growing, we can adjust our lessons as needed.

My lesson Materials are pretty simple. I use Seth Riggs Singing For The Stars CD's. This is a two part dvd set, which consits of various vocal warm ups to allow the singer to understand Speech Level Singing. Speach Level singing simply means singing any song in any style using the same technique, and doing it in the same place that you speak naturally on a daily basis. This technique has been used by Opera singers, Jazz vocalists, R&B vocalists, Gospel Singers, Voice Over Artists, Public speakers, Rock singers and more. I practice this technique as well.
