About
Freelance bassist- Professor of Music at Cuesta College, San Luis Obispo, CA- Taught private lessons and classroom instruction for over 25 years. Performances with jazz greats Bruce Forman, John Abercrombie, Pete Christlieb, Red Holloway, Marco Benevento, and many others at venues such as Monterey Jazz Festival, Knitting Factory, Jazz Bakery and countless others. I graduated with honors from Berklee College of Music, and earned a Master's Degree in Jazz Studies from SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Music. Private studies with Todd Coolman, Dennis Irwin, and Kermit Driscoll among others.
I have taught hundreds of students privately in California and New York since 1996. My teaching philosophy is to tailor instruction for each student based on their learning styles and goals. For all students I emphasize the importance of music literacy, technique, and fundamental skills (ear training, rhythm, harmony, and melody). All of these things can be developed through a student's preferred style and repertoire.
