About

Hello!

I'm currently a graduate student at the Hartt School of Music in Hartford, Connecticut in Trumpet Performance. As an educator, I've spent the last 10 years giving private lessons, teaching high school marching band, and coaching musicians of all ages and experience levels.  Prior to moving to Connecticut, I worked at the Gray School of Music in San Pedro, California as a trumpet and piano teacher. I have worked at Littlerock, Antelope Valley, and Baldwin Park High Schools in California as a brass performance coach.

As a freelance trumpeter, I have played with the Hartford Symphony Brass Quintet, played in productions of the Little Mermaid and Grease, and Anything Goes musicals, Kurt Weill's opera Street Scene, and the opera Hansel and Greta. I have played for Easter services for both Trinity College and Saint Margaret Mary church since being in Hartford.

I'm originally from the Los Angeles area, having finished my undergraduate degree in performance from California State University of Long Beach, and decided to move to the East Coast for a few years to pursue my graduate degrees. Soon I'll begin my doctorate studies in trumpet performance from Stony Brook University in Long Island, New York.

I approach teaching like a coach, meaning my goal is to help students achieve theirs! If you're looking to learn trumpet for the first time, or build the skills to win a college audition, or just to deepen your relationship to music or the trumpet-- I can help you! My lesson plans are designed around you, and my teaching is informed and tailored to help you achieve your goals as a musician. I look forward to helping you succeed in your musical endeavors!

I teach from a variety of books, however if there is a prohibitive cost for students, I can teach from materials that are public domain (and often free). In our first lesson and a discussion about what you're trying to achieve, I can recommend books for you to own.
