Ed Durbrow

I've played lute and Baroque guitar since the mid 1970s. I have a BA in music and have studied with many world famous lute teachers. I have performed professionally, playing lute all over Japan. I also was a professional guitarist before taking up early music, playing in a rock band that won the first national rock contest in England sponsered by the Melody Maker Magazine in 1972 and subsequently recording at EMIs Abbey Road Studio.
I've contributed songs to hit records and commercial TV in Japan.

Usually, a student plays a piece of music and I comment. These comments usually concern technical and musical aspects. The desired musical result may have to do with taste, knowledge of the style and student's intention. Problems in execution often lead to examination of technical problems such as fingering, arm and hand position etc.

Lessons can go any number of directions depending on the student's needs and wants.
