About

Hello!

My name is Edgard Fonseca. I am a Nicaraguan guitarist and composer who has played in various bands of different music genres in countries such as Nicaragua, Mexico and Spain, such as "Monroy y Surmenage", "Doble Circulación" "Edgard Fonseca Quartet" among others. I recently released my first EP as a leader called "Seikilos".  I studied at the "Fermatta" music academy and at the "CIEM (Music Research and Studies Center) in Mexico City, studying contemporary music performance and composition careers respectively. In Spain I studied at "L`aula de Música Moderna i Jazz", obtaining a professional degree in modern music and jazz with a specialty in guitar.

As a teacher, I have almost 10 years of experience teaching both as a freelance personal teacher and in different music academies and schools. I was the director and guitar professor at “LIA Music Academy” From February 2016 to July 2016 in Nicaragua. I was also the electric guitar and harmony teacher in the music school "CEM" in Nicaragua from 2016 until recently. I was also posted as an electrical guitar professor in "Estudio arte Heredia" in Costa Rica and I am still part of the network of teachers of the same school.

My teaching style is personalized for the specific goals of the student. I have been lucky to have played a wide array of music genres which gives me the ability to teach students different genres of music focused to the specific musical tastes and goals of the students. I always leave my students a practice schedule, which we revise each week to check the weekly progress that has been made. I normally structure the class in 3 main areas: Technique and Fret board knowledge, Repertoire and rhythm (if the student wants to learn jazz or blues we also study improvisation). the material we see in class is always modified in relation to the time the student has to study and his/hers goals in music and life!
