I have been playing the Great Highland Bagpipe for over 30 years. My mother's side of the family are from Aberdeenshire  and as a child I'd spend a lot of time with my Scottish relatives and we frequently had holidays to Scotland where I would eventually grow an obsession with bagpipe music. My mother was keen to encourage me to play and managed to find me an excellent teacher . After 6 months of private tuition my tutor introduced me to a pipe band and within a year I was playing at public and private functions with the band. Eventually I'd go on to play with competition bands with whom I'd compete at the English, British, Scottish, and World Championships as well as many smaller competitions.  As well as playing in bands I'd eventually start picking up my own private gigs such as weddings, funerals, parties, corporate events, etc. I made appearances in newspapers as well as on TV and radio. I have played for a number of celebrities including Steve Gerrard and Alex Ferguson and I have performed at a number of international events in countries such as Germany, Slovenia,  and Spain. 

As well as performing with bands and solo I have been teaching students one to one at my home and online for many years and many of my students have gone on to play in pipe bands.  I am also the official bagpipe tutor at the Army Foundation College in Harrogate, Yorkshire and I have been teaching junior soldiers there since 2012 as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.
