Eitan Strauss-Cohn

Hello! My name is Eitan Strauss-Cohn. I’ve been playing guitar for over ten years now, and it is one of my greatest passions. I also play a variety of other instruments, including voice, banjo and ukulele. I am also an avid but still learning composer, mostly writing for chorus and guitar.

I have been teaching music since 2013, when my synagogue gave me the job as music teacher, giving class lessons on Jewish songs to everyone from preschool to seventh grade. I have since continued to teach, expanding to one-on-one instrument lessons and improving my class lesson skills, because teaching music brings me so much joy.

I specialize in classical, rock, folk, and bluegrass, plus I’m happy to learn along with you in any other genre you may have on your mind.

I like to focus first on grounding my students' practice in technique and theory, so that when they are ready to take on more complex repertoire, they will be able to analyze and comprehend it more easily. I think of myself as a more laid-back teacher, moving at my students' preferred learning pace as much as possible, while helping them strive to learn more.
