Elizabeth Sacks
About
I am a Homeschooling Mother of 6 who has played violin for over 20 years. My real passion is teaching my students to find what they love and express it in their music. I feel that music is a universal language and if students learn by exploring what inspires and invigorates them, they will communicate their passion well. I have participated in the Reading Philharmonic Orchestra in middle and high school, won 3rd place in the Youth Category at the Lyons Fiddle Festival, and taught violin for over 7 years, both in school settings, and private lessons.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is gentle and student led. I like to help encourage the student to find what inspires and interests them, and use that as a springboard to help my students hone their technique, and refine their expression.
Curriculum
I offer lessons in classical, fiddle, and popular music for violin.
For classical students I prefer the Suzuki method, this book does move quickly though.
For students wanting a slower paced method of instruction with plenty of practice exercises, I like the Essential Elements books or Sound Innovations.
