Elizabeth Wilson
About
I have experience as both a tutor and teacher: I have tutored writing, music theory, and music history at the undergraduate level, as well as reading comprehension, writing, math, and history at the middle/high school levels. I have been a private piano instructor for the past 5 years. Currently, I work as a music therapist and private music instructor in NYC. I have studied music all my life and made it my profession. I've composed music using various types of software, arranged a cappella music for 3 years during my undergraduate time, and have some experience with DAWs.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is based on traditional classical education, but I also love to incorporate improvisation and songwriting! I believe learning is about more than rote learning, and I want my students to explore the sounds they like and dare to create. I continually challenge myself to learn more about music theory and to improve my instrument skills - and I'd love to share my knowledge with you. I believe that music is a right, not a luxury, so I hope everyone one day has the ability to learn it themselves!
