About

Friendly and Experienced Clarinet Teacher – All Ages & Levels Welcome!

About Me / Bio:

Hi! I’m Ellen, a classically trained clarinetist currently studying at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Germany. I’ve performed across Europe and Korea in both orchestral and solo settings, and I absolutely love helping students find their unique musical voice.

Whether you're just starting on the clarinet or want to improve your tone, technique, or musical interpretation, I tailor each lesson to you. My lessons are friendly, structured, and always filled with encouragement. I have experience teaching students from beginner to advanced levels, both in person and online.

Lessons can be held in English, Korean, or German, depending on your comfort.

Curriculum

Teaching Method:

My teaching method is flexible, student-centered, and rooted in solid classical fundamentals. I always begin by understanding each student's individual goals, level, and musical taste—whether it's preparing for an audition, improving sound, or simply playing for fun.

Here’s what I focus on in my lessons:

  • Healthy Technique – Breath control, embouchure, posture, and hand position are always integrated naturally into the lesson.
  • Musical Expression – We don’t just play notes; we shape phrases, explore dynamics, and bring personality into the music.
  • Repertoire Variety – I include exercises, études, solo pieces, and even small ensemble parts when possible to keep things fresh and motivating.
  • Efficient Practice Habits – I guide students on how to practice between lessons so progress continues independently.
  • Encouraging Atmosphere – I value patience, humor, and warmth in lessons. Mistakes are part of learning, and I help students build confidence step by step.

For younger students, I use more visual and interactive approaches to keep things fun and engaging. For advanced students, I can provide in-depth coaching on articulation, phrasing, and audition materials, and share insight from my conservatory training in Europe.
