About
Highly qualified composer with a master's degree and with more than 8 years of teaching experience. I am a 5-star rated composition teacher with over 20 positive reviews from international students
If you are interested in composing and deepening your musical knowledge, I can help you. I will design a study plan tailored to your goals and musical interests.
I am a Mexican composer based in France with more than 8 years of teaching experience. I hold a Master’s degree in Composition from the University of Bergen in Norway, and I am currently studying a second Master’s degree in Film Scoring at Université Lumière Lyon II. Over the years I have taught piano and composition in different musical styles, helping many students develop their musical language and prepare for admission exams to conservatories and music schools. My music has been performed internationally in countries such as Mexico, Japan, India, France, and Norway. I have also worked as a composer for short films, TV series, advertising, theater, and contemporary dance.
Teaching Style
I believe that there is no single study plan that works for everyone. Each student has different goals, so I adapt the lessons to their interests and needs. In general, our work together can include the following areas:
1. Composition
We will regularly review the pieces or songs you are working on and develop exercises to help solve specific musical challenges and expand your creative ideas.
2. Piano fundamentals
I will teach you the basics of the piano so that you can explore and develop your musical ideas directly through the instrument.
3. Music theory and creative exercises
Through creative exercises we will work on solfege, harmony, counterpoint, analysis, and instrumentation, helping you develop the tools needed to write clear and coherent music.
4. Music history and style
We will explore important musical traditions and movements, and occasionally do small style exercises to understand how different musical languages work.
5. Notation and music production tools
I can also help you learn music notation software (such as Sibelius) and music production software (such as Reaper or Logic Pro), so you can document and develop your music effectively.
In our lessons we can focus deeply on one of these areas or work on several of them at the same time. It all depends on your goals as a musician
Curriculum
My teaching method combines creative practice with a solid understanding of musical fundamentals. In each lesson we work with a shared document where we write down the concepts, exercises, and ideas covered in class. This document is updated every week so the student has all the personalized material in one place.
I usually assign weekly exercises or small composition tasks, which are also added to the same document so students can easily follow their progress.
In addition, I regularly share audiovisual materials (such as videos or audio examples) and provide PDF resources when needed, including theory books, historical references, exercises, and musical scores to support the learning process.
