Emily Drew

My name is Emily Drew and I am a singer-songwriter of 14 years! I love to share the gift of music as it has been such a blessing in my life. I have multiple albums out on iTunes and Spotify and have played on stages that have seen the likes of many famous artists such as Jason Mraz and Jack Johnson. I have a very extensive repertoire  of cover songs spanning many genres on top of hundreds of original songs. I have been teaching lessons for 6 years. I specialize in teaching beginners and especially children. My youngest student so far is 8. 

I like to make learning guitar fun, because lets face it, it can be challenging and hard to stay motivated. I find the best way to stay motivated is to hear quick results! There is nothing more empowering than being able to play a song you know and love! I have many tips and trick for making ANY song accessible for beginners. We start off very simple and progress from there. I encourage regular practice and give specific homework that help students progress quickly. 

I do not teach classical guitar which requires reading music. I use tablature and chord charts which are much easier to learn. I teach finger style as well as strumming and how to use a pick. I always make sure my student have a well rounded knowledge of the guitar and basic music theory without getting so in-depth that it becomes over-whelming. Again, the goal is to have fun!
