Eric Delagrange

American Bass Eric Delagrange, a recent graduate from the prestigious Academy of Vocal Arts, has been described by Opera News as “a truly excellent bass”, and commanding “a powerful, attention-getting voice” by Parterre.

This 2023-2024 season, Mr. Delagrange will be making his role debut of Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte with Ópera Nacional de Chile, role debut as Sparafucile in Rigoletto with Druid City Opera, and Frère Laurent in Roméo et Juliette with Opera San José.

In the 2022-2023 season, Mr. Delagrange sang the roles of Imperial Commissioner in Madama Butterfly, Pistola in Falstaff, and covered Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte with Palm Beach Opera. Additionally, he returned to The Princeton Festival as Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia, while in concert, he sang Mozart’s Requiem with Bethesda by the Sea.

Mr. Delagrange made his company, and role debut as Superintendent Budd in Albert Herring with The Princeton Festival, as well as Prince Gremin in Eugene Onegin with Music Academy of the West. He also performed with the Philadelphia Sinfonia as a bass soloist in Haydn’s The Creation.

In the 2019-2020 season, he made his debut with Heartbeat Opera in Louisa Proske and Chloe Treat’s production of Der Freischütz as Hermit. In October of 2019, Delagrange joined pianist Brent Funderburk in a Recital Series at The Hill Stead Museum in Farmington, Connecticut.

A graduate of The Academy of Vocal Arts, Mr. Delagrange’s role credits include Colline (La bohème), Zaretsky (Eugene Onegin), Balthazar (La favorite), Le Duc (Roméo et Juliette), Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte), and Vodnik (Rusalka). On the concert stage he has sung with Bethesda by the Sea, Kennett Symphony, Houston Camerata, and Philadelphia Sinfonia. Concert credits include Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Rossini’s Stabat Mater, Mozart’s Requiem, Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, and Handel’s Messiah.

Mr. Delagrange is an honored winner of numerous competitions. He was awarded 2nd prize winner from the Orpheus Vocal Competition, Finalist in XVI Montserrat Caballé International Singing Competition, and Special Judges Award & Audience Choice Winner of the Giargiari Bel Canto Competition. He has also won awards through the Orpheus Vocal Competition, The Shreveport Opera Competition, American Opera Society of Chicago Award, Kleinman Foundation, and Metropolitan National Council Auditions.
