I have been working as a knitting and crochet teaching artist since 2009. I am a Craft Yarn Council Level 1 and 2 Certified Knitting and Crochet instructor, and I have experience working with beginner through advanced level knitting and crochet students. I have worked with students as young as 11 years old online and in an after-school setting. As an artist, I always enjoy learning new techniques and continuing to develop my skill set. I enjoy knitting richly textured fabrics such as brioche and working with heavy-weight yarns. My students have worked on projects including socks, top-down sweaters, knitting in the round, knit doughnuts, lemons, and amigurumi crochet dolls.
I have worked as a knitting and crochet teaching artist with various organizations including Apex for Youth, 2021-2023, Bedford Stuyvestant Collegiate Charter School, 2009-2017 and Michaels Craft Stores, 2016-2019.
As an English as a Second Language Teacher, I hold a Cambridge English Language Teaching Certificate and have been working as an online English Language tutor with Learnlight since 2014. Prior to that, I worked as an English Language teacher with Embassy English, 2010-2014 and International House, Brno, Czech Republic, 2008-2009.
Lessons are always student-centered and focused on student needs, goals, and learning styles. If a student wants to work on a specific pattern, we focus on the skills necessary to read and follow that pattern. If the student would like to work on a specific skill, I find patterns appropriate for helping the student learn that skill set, and we will work through these patterns. I am always happy to hear and accommodate my student's needs.
English Language classes are also focused on student needs with the goal of developing your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. You will grow you skills in English for business, university and everyday life. I work with speaking, reading, listening and writing materials from Linguahouse.com, One Stop English and Ted Talks for advanced level students.
