Esme Allen-Creighton
About
Violinist and Violist Esme Allen-Creighton is a Julliard-trained, Suzuki Certified Violin Pedagogue who has worked with students across North America. Faculty positions have included: Julliard School's Music Advancement Program, Brooklyn College, SUNY Potsdam, the University of Delaware, the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, as well as public schools across New York City and Philadelphia as a teaching artist. Esme is much in demand as a solo, chamber, and orchestral performer. She has toured Europe as principal of the Arcos Orchestra, toured the US and appeared at Carnegie Hall, on radio and TV as violist of the Serafin Quartet.
Back home in Toronto, she is frequently seen with the Toronto Chamber Players, Toronto Concert and Esprit Orchestras, among others. In her spare time she enjoys creating multimedia works fusing poetry, music, film such as her Whole Note Magazine-featured "Forest Bathing" and her upcoming "Wildlight".
I am here to help every student find their own musical voice. Each step along the path to creative freedom can be fun and expressively rewarding! From the way we first learn to hold our instruments, to Carnegie Hall, I strive to create a nurturing and inspiring environment for all. For my youngest students, I like to work with the world-class Suzuki method. I also teach improvisation and basic musicianship games. My studio is an inclusive space where all people are welcome, and though I come from a classical background, I encourage students to share the music they love with me so we can work on it together, regardless of genre. I believe we all learn best from what we love, and am continually learning new pieces from students and families of different backgrounds than my own.
