About

Ethan Brown is a cellist from New York City currently pursuing a Master's degree at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music under Professor Hoebig's guidance.  He started playing  the cello at 4 years old under the tutelage of Yari Bond at the Special Music School of America and the Kaufman Music Center’s Young Artists Program in NYC. Ethan has had the opportunity to work over the years with a number of acclaimed cellists and musicians, enjoying a close mentorship from Nicholas Tzavaras of the Shanghai String Quartet.  After graduating from LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts in New York, Ethan completed his Bachelor's degree at Northwestern University's Bienen School of Music in Professor Jensen's studio.  He has been a member of a variety of chamber groups and ensembles, performing abroad for audiences in East and West Europe, South America and throughout the United States.  Ethan now performs regularly as a substitute and extra musician at the Chicago Lyric Opera and is honored to have recently received awards from the Tanglewood Music Center and the ASCAP Foundation. In his limited free time, he enjoys cooking, swimming and camping with friends and family.

Ethan teaches a roster of private students weekly via Zoom.
