About

Ethan Kimberly is a Drummer/Composer based in Cincinnati Ohio. From the age of 10, Ethan has studied percussion and participated in multiple school activities such as Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Jazz Combo, and Jazz Orchestra. Currently attending the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, he has studied with the likes of John Taylor (Phil Degreg Trio, Dayton Philharmonic, Kim Pensyl Group), Ric Hordinski (Over the Rhine, Iron and Wine, Bob Dylan), and Kim Pensyl (Kim Pensyl Group, Woody Herman Orchestra). Ethan has an extensive background in Jazz and Rock music, performing in multiple ensembles in and outside of CCM throughout his career. He currently tours with indie rock band Sylmar and plays in town frequently with various other groups such as dream pop outfit Roof Rabbit, and Jazz fusion group The Senate

Ethan has also dedicated much of his musical development to composition and production. What stemmed from childhood boredom turned into a chronic passion, as he taught himself how to record and produce his own music in high school, playing multiple instruments and singing on his tracks. Since then, Ethan has written multiple works ranging from film scores, video game music and percussion suites to progressive rock and bedroom pop.  His most recent works include math rock EP "Angsty Quarters" under the pseudonym Mind The Goat. He has collaborated several times with North Carolina based filmmaker Isaac Dye on his short films, writing original music to film and providing sound design in addition to mixing dialogue to music. He is currently working with another NC based filmmaker Gabriel Smith and composing music for his latest short film: "Keyhole".

Hello! My name is Ethan, and I'm here to help you achieve your musical goals.

I'm a firm believer that no two students are alike, and I strive to accommodate different learning styles and backgrounds. My goal is to assist my students with whatever interests them most musically while also giving them the tools and instruction they need to progress as an overall player/writer/musician.

I currently offer lessons in music production, drum set, and songwriting. I have primarily taught high schoolers and middle schoolers in these subjects, but I am more than comfortable working with students from a variety of skill levels and backgrounds.
