About

Hi! My name is Flavia. I’m a singer and vocal instructor with experience teaching voice in both private and institutional settings, including CEMM, Hogar Musical, and Nuad Studio. My background combines jazz, classical, choral, and early music training. Throughout the years, I have had the opportunity to study with teachers such as Antonia Chabebe, Maryam de Soto, Sibelle Márquez, Josefien Stoppelenburg, and Ulita Knaus. I’m currently a senior undergraduate student in Contemporary Music at UNPHU.

In 2025–2026, I took part in an academic and cultural exchange at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg in Germany, where I participated in productions such as the opera Artaserse by Johann Adolph Hasse and performed at JazzHall Hamburg as both a soloist and ensemble singer. I have also performed as a soloist in recognized venues in the Dominican Republic, in addition to my work with ensembles such as Músicos de la Villa, an early music ensemble, and Koribe, the choir of the Ministry of Culture of the Dominican Republic.

I especially enjoy working with beginners, hobby singers, and students who want to grow in both confidence and artistic expression while developing a healthy relationship with their voice.

Teaching Style

My teaching style is supportive, thoughtful, and personalized to each student. I adapt lessons depending on the student’s goals, personality, and vocal needs, while helping them develop both healthy technique and artistic expression.

I usually structure lessons around vocal exercises, technical work, and repertoire, but I also believe that songs themselves teach us a lot. Different pieces reveal different vocal and expressive challenges, so I like to explore repertoire flexibly rather than staying too long on only one song.

One thing I consider very important is developing awareness. I encourage students to listen to themselves, record themselves, and become more conscious of what they are hearing and feeling while singing. I also pay close attention to vocal health and overall well-being, since things like tension, stress, sleep, or reflux can directly affect the voice.

For me, technique and interpretation are equally important. Music is ultimately about expression and communication, so I strive to create a calm and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable experimenting, growing, and connecting more deeply with their voice.

I especially enjoy working with beginners, hobby singers, teenagers, and students who want to feel more expressive and confident while singing.

Curriculum

My teaching approach combines vocal technique, musical awareness, and artistic expression. I do not follow one fixed method book for every student because I believe every voice and learning process is different.

Lessons may include:
• Vocal warm-ups and technical exercises
• Intonation and listening exercises
• Repertoire work and interpretation
• Vocal awareness through self-recording and observation
• Musical expression and connection to lyrics and storytelling

I also pay close attention to vocal health and overall well-being, since factors such as tension, sleep, stress, reflux, or physical fatigue can directly affect the voice.
