Francesco Giusti
About
I hold a Bachelor of Music from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, an Ergänzungsstudium from HMT Leipzig, and a Master of Music from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. As a professional counter-tenor, I bring extensive international stage experience to my teaching, including performances with the Irish Baroque Orchestra and a debut at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. Since relocating to Ireland in 2017, I have accumulated over eight years of dedicated teaching experience in private music education, guiding students through rigorous vocal and musical development. This extensive background perfectly positions me to work with the 13–18 age group, as I specialize in helping teenagers navigate significant vocal transitions while establishing a healthy, sustainable technique. My goal is to combine master-level performance insights with structured pedagogical methods to inspire young musicians and effectively prepare them for advanced examinations or future artistic careers.
Teaching Style
My teaching methodology is rooted in developing a healthy, sustainable technique while cultivating a deep, holistic understanding of music. Whether we are focusing on vocal mechanics or keyboard skills, I bridge technical proficiency with historical awareness. Lessons are highly individualized, emphasizing tension release, breath management, and a strong foundational technique that empowers students to sing or play with freedom and confidence.
A core strength of my classes is my extensive specialization in historical performance and early music. Because my academic and practical training encompasses piano, organ, and composition alongside my vocal career, I actively incorporate elements of counterpoint and harmony into our lessons. This allows students to deeply understand the architecture of the music rather than just reading notes on a page. Additionally, my fluency in multiple European languages—including Italian, English, German, and Swedish—allows me to offer precise, master-level diction coaching for classical vocalists.
I am highly goal-oriented and specialize in helping students prepare for rigorous milestones. Whether you are working toward high-level performance examinations (such as RIAM or Trinity College London), preparing for conservatory auditions, or tackling demanding baroque and classical repertoire, I provide a clear, structured roadmap. You can expect an encouraging but rigorous environment where you will develop both technical mastery and a profound, independent artistic voice.
Curriculum
My teaching method is fundamentally diagnostic and student-centered. I do not believe in a rigid, "one-size-fits-all" approach to music education, particularly for advanced or developing classical musicians. In our initial lessons, we evaluate your current technical baseline, artistic goals, and unique musical voice. From there, we focus heavily on foundational mechanics—such as efficient breath management, tension release, and acoustic resonance for singers, or ergonomic technique and harmonic awareness for keyboard students. My background in composition and early music allows us to dive deeply into the architecture of the music, ensuring you develop both technical mastery and profound musical literacy.
Because every student’s physiological instrument and learning style are unique, I do not require a single, standardized method book or textbook. Instead, I design a completely bespoke curriculum for every individual. The repertoire and exercises we use are carefully curated based on your specific milestones, whether that involves preparing for formal performance examinations, tackling conservatory auditions, or mastering complex classical and baroque repertoire.
While there is no mandatory textbook to purchase upfront, I draw upon an extensive library of historical treatises, technical exercises, and varied sheet music to support your growth. I will provide custom-tailored vocalises, specific scores, and specialized diction resources utilizing my fluency in multiple European languages. This highly tailored approach guarantees that every piece of music and technical exercise we work on serves your specific, immediate developmental needs.
