Hello! I am Fran Paez Grillo, a songwriter from Mendoza, Argentina and I want to invite you to join my songwriting classes.
Whether you never wrote a song, or you can't finish them, or you need someone to help you with the final revision to your creations, this course can help you.
I realize that songwriting is not something that only people with a "natural talent" can do. Quite the opposite! Learning to write songs is something that we should all try sometime. It is a deep form of expression and a wonderful way to have fun.
Indeed, I started writing songs at the age of 9, as a way to both express myself and have fun. Thus began my relationship with music, which would lead to the study with the Guitar and Music Faculty of the Guitar Studies Center, and a Bachelors in Popular Music at the National University of Cuyo. When I turned nineteen, I began to give guitar and songwriting lessons, an activity that continues today, sixteen years later.
I have spent the last 25 years writing songs, alone and with friends. I want my students to discover the power of songwriting as a way to get to know themselves, to express deep their emotions and ideas, and to have fun.
In my classes, through various exercises and techniques, we will discover different ways of writing songs. I have developed a system of more than 80 exercises and triggers to spark creativity. Linguistic games, writing music from poetry, rhythmic exercises to awaken the playfulness of composing, and many other techniques; some already existing, others that, over time, I have developed. Fundamentally, the course is divided into these broad themes:

Functional harmony basics: Discover how notions of harmony can make your songs vibrate differently. You can paint a painting with seven colors ... or with hundreds!

Creativity exercices:: You want to write a song, but you don't know what to talk about, or you are blocked ... with the creativity exercises you will be able to detach yourself from the obstacles and give flight to your intuition to write unique songs!

Lyrics Writing: Learn to uncover your own and unique voice for songwriting.

Deep listening: Based on the knowledge provided by Pauline Oliveros, we will begin a path that will allow you to focus your attention on your surroundings, whether they be everyday noises or songs, with the aim of unlearning old listening patterns and connecting with the present moment.
I try to make my classes a service to the learner and not a demonstration of my own talents. They can be taken by both children and adults, beginners and advanced. I focus mainly on the needs of the student, and from there I look for the most suitable tools for him or her.
