About
I am a classically trained total percussionist. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Fayetteville State University and a Master's Degree in Music Performance from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss). I have over 10 years of educational experience ranging from the collegiate classroom at Johnson C Smith University to private instruction at Charlotte Music School, and Onstage Performance Academy. In addition, I am an active freelance performer in diverse performance settings such as orchestral percussion, musical theater, and both sacred and contemporary opportunities on drumset.
My style of teaching is rooted in a focus on technique and fundamentals before moving to a specialized learning plan based on student's goals. I utilize the use of standard music notation to help promote efficiency, consistency, and develop independence, however I can adjust to many different learning styles and cater to each student regardless of aptitude.
