About

Grace Peña (she/her) graduated from Viterbo Conservatory of Fine Arts with a BFA in Musical Theatre. With over a decade in the world of music and voice, she's currently pursuing a master’s degree in Vocal Pedagogy (Contemporary Commercial Music track) at Shenandoah University. Though her extensive performance background is based in the Music Theatre canon, Grace is known for her vocal versatility both on and off the stage, and wants to bring that breadth of experience to her studio!

Teaching Style

Grace's teaching style with voice strikes a balance between anatomy focused technique and developing a student's personal style as a performer. This means that the warm-ups/cool-downs, song choices, and critiques/"homework" are as individual as the student that walks in! Ranging from classical, to MT,to jazz, to pop, and many more, the ability to adapt and cross-train the voice is one of the main guiding practices in her teaching style. Grace's primary goals as a voice/music theater instructor is to connect and guide students  to find their individuality and bring the best form of themselves out onto the stage. She believes that although it is very important to have a strong foundation of technique, music as well as theatre are both art forms that require freedom, unity, and the excitement to discover.
