Heather MacLeod

I am a professional classical singer with over 7 years of teaching experience! I previously worked as head voice teacher at Kamloops Symphony Music School in Kamloops, British Columbia, and also ran my own private studio. Alongside teaching, I was a freelance classical singer through the U.S. and Canada, performing in recital and concert. I was a Resident Artist at Banff Centre for the Arts and Creativity, a Fellow at Song Fest L.A., a Fellow at Russian Opera Workshop, and placed third for Classical Voice in the Federation of Canadian Music Festivals in 2018.

My studies have taken me to Tanglewood, Circle in the Square Musical Theatre Program, University of Victoria (Bachelor of Music), Vancouver Island University (Post-Baccalaureate B.Ed), and now NYU for an M.A. in Educational Theatre and English. I work as an elementary school and also as a professional voice actor with representation at Access Talent - a boutique firm in Manhattan. 

I am an incredibly warm, empathetic and uplifting voice teacher. I always work with the natural voice and make sure I meet my students where they're at in their voice journey. I structure lessons with slow and methodical warm-ups to ensure no straining, then pick repertoire alongside my student's interest and what I think would best suit their voice and unique skills. We always have FUN, too! I want my students to come to their lesson and leave everything else at the door - when we sing, we focus on you and your instrument.
